WOMEN'S HEALTH
All women's health issues which do not require Doctor's consultation are handled in this clinic, situated in the Bounce section on M-KEM's first floor.

Injectable and Oral Contraceptives (a limited range which are supplied by the state), in addition to those supplied by the pharmacy are available in this clinic. It is unfortunate that emergency contraception is as widely used, which indicates a lack of protected sex and the risk of HIV/AIDS, but this service is also available.

Pregnancy testing, HIV testing, pap smears and referrals for sterilisation and vasectomy are a few of the extensive range of services available from this clinic.

'Human Papillomavirus':
Certain types of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) can cause cervical and vulvar cancer and / or genital warts. Young women and men are more vulnerable to HPV – the virus that causes cervical cancer.

The Gardasil Vaccine is recommended and may be administered (at M-KEM) from the age of 9 years old. Cervarix vaccination also available at M-KEM's Women's Health Clinic.

Sexual issues particularly with regard to teenage sexuality require sensitivity, compassion and discretion, all of which are given with professional care by the M-KEM Nursing Sisters.
